Dear Madam, Dear Sir,

 

Svensk-Belgiska Föreningen was founded in 1934. The main objective of our non-political Association is to promote friendship between Belgium and Sweden. Since now almost 75 years, the Swedish-Belgian Association has served as the natural meeting place for Swedish and Belgian people and for the interests of both countries.

 

We count among our members Belgian nationals, who for professional or family reasons, are residents of Sweden and Swedish nationals, who have enjoyed tours of duties in or have strong ties to the Kingdom of Belgium. Nationals of other countries are also members of our Association. While the official language of the Association is English, several members are fluent in several other languages, including Dutch, French, German and the Scandinavian languages.

 

The Swedish-Belgian Association arranges and supports attractive functions and events, including the following, many of which are financially sponsored by the Association itself:

 

Ø      Dinner-speeches with high-ranking and interesting personalities;

Ø      Invitations to Swedish-Belgian cultural events;

Ø      Gastronomy and drink with a distinct Belgian flavour;

Ø      Arrival of St. Nicolas for the families and the children at the Residence of the Belgian Ambassador in Stockholm;

Ø      Annual New Year's Reception also at the Residence of the Ambassador; and

Ø      the Annual Meeting of the Association.

 

As you can see, the benefits of Swedish Belgian Association membership are far greater than the nominal current annual dues of  and SEK 150 per member or SEK 250 for a couple for 2008.

 

The Association gratefully acknowledges the support by the Ambassador of Belgium and his Embassy staff and the work by the Association's Officers, who all work on Belgo-Swedish co-operation on a volunteer basis, without which the Association could not function.
